In cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Institute for Radioelements (IRE) and its subsidiary IRE ELiT together with the Radiation Safety Directorate (RSD) of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia organized on 24 – 28 April 2017 in Ohrid the 7th International Symposium on IN SItu NUclear MEtrology as a tool for radioecology – INSINUME 2017.
As for the previous symposia held in Belgium (2002 and 2012), Bulgaria (2004), Turkey (2006), Morocco (2008) and the Russian Federation (2010), the 2017 conference addressed a broad scope of topics in radiological monitoring of the environment and radioecology to illustrate the multidisciplinary nature of the involved sciences and the growing needs. On the basis of the up-to-date technology, the final object of the symposium is to help the environmental radiation protection community to perform realistic and useful radiological monitoring. For its 15th anniversary, the conference gathered about 80 participants from 30 countries who attended around 10 key notes lectures, 40 oral presentations and 2 poster sessions but also enjoyed the Macedonian culture.
