Created in 1971, the Institute for Radioelements (IRE) is a public utility foundation located on the Fleurus industrial estate, Belgium. By virtue of its status, the IRE operates as a private company for which the Board of Directors is appointed by the competent minister based on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

The principal mission of the IRE is to contribute to public health and environmental protection.
